As there last UK tour this year Bury Tomorrow wanted to do a set of intimate shows which they then named the Stage Invasion Tour. Around the UK they are playing numerous small shows to bring back gigs to an intimate level and for them to make a tour which "represents how the relationship between fans and bands should be." Vault, Rugby is a small night club venue which holds 250 and with the stage in the corner of the room making a great view from all angels this was the perfect venue.
The room took a while to fill up and I was slightly concerned as before the doors opened there was hardly anyone waiting inside. For the first two supports acts , Wars and Dead Harts, the crowd was still rather sparse to what I was expecting but with encouragement and enthusiasm, definitely from Dead Harts the crowd soon perked up from the corners. Wars opened up with a dramatic yet awkward (but in a good way) set, which was then followed by Dead Harts, which consisted of a lot of swinging from pipes on the ceiling and attempted moshpits with guitars still in hand.
By the time Bury Tomorrow had come on the atmosphere had completely changed and excitement was in full force. With the stage being on the floor we were right up close to the band taking an intimate gig to a whole new level. Bury Tomorrow's setlist was well thought out with not only the song choice but with the positioning of their songs. Even with a wide mix of songs, old ones like These Woods, more recent songs like Garden of Thorns, and 1603 which until this tour they had never played live the crowd had the same devoted reaction. Such a small venue amplified the talent this band has and they gave a perform that I will never forget. The involvement with the crowd was full force and every minute Dani was screaming into someone's face or handing them the mic. Getting the crowd in such a way really added to the intimacy and highlighted why I love such small shows so much. Getting to 'invade the stage' during Man On Fire made seeing my favourite BT song live just that extra bit more special and really ended the evening in the best way.
